We had a wonderful brunch on commitment Sunday bringing everyone together. Thank you to all who helped plan the brunch and put it on as well as those who attended. ...
Two years ago, the Property Team hired a Civil Engineering firm to evaluate the long-term feasibility of our educational buildings. The Grier Fellowship building was designed originally to be a single story and has multiple system issues that confirm it is in its “sunset decade” of service. Arguably, the education building could be gutted and totally revamped with a renovated exterior to match a building replacing the Grier Fellowship Hall. However, it would be much cheaper to raze both buildings and construct one unified new structure with inside center hallways for access, and inside connections to existing buildings. Future savings would be realized both in construction and operation. What we desperately need is future educational space for our multi-generational activities and ministries. Our core users are all cramped for classroom/meeting space. Our master site facility plan anticipates future expansions in educational space, gathering space off the sanctuary, and new ministry/education space on the back corner beyond the educational building. The focus of this vision is to allow all our good ministries to grow and expand.
The good news is we have $750,000 on hand mostly from legacy and designated gifts. However it will take an additional $2,750,000 to replace our old buildings with a new and expanded facility. To raze and build anew will likely take two back-to-back campaigns over a 6-year period.
